Reopening announced for Calderdale park shut for two years
A Calderdale park which has been closed since 2024 is reopening.
Whinney Hill Park, in Brighouse, has been shut while a water storage area was created as part of flood alleviation work.
After two years, the green space will reopen tomorrow (Friday, November 6).
The Environment Agency, who led the work, says some of the project team will be at the Bradford Road entrance of the green space between 1pm and 4pm tomorrow to share details and show how the park will reduce flood risk.

"Over the last two years, work has taken place to help reduce the risk of flooding to homes, businesses and infrastructure in Brighouse,” said the Environment Agency.
"As part of the scheme, Whinney Hill Park has been redesigned to play an important role in managing flood water during periods of heavy rainfall.
“The changes to the park have been carefully designed to balance flood resilience with the continued use of this valued community space.
“The new layout will help the park temporarily store and manage water when needed, whilst providing improved open space for residents to enjoy throughout the year.”
The reopening of Whinney Hill Park follows the reopening of a revamped Wellholme Park in Brighouse, where water storage has also been created to protect against floods, earlier this year.
