107 students at Calderdale school to self isolate as pupil and staff member test positive for covid

Students at a Calderdale school must self isolate after a member of staff and a student tested positive for coronavirus.

The positive cases have been confirmed at Ryburn Valley High School. They cases have been confirmed as one year 10 student and a member of staff.

Posting on the school's website a statement said: "Following confirmed covid-19 cases in one Year 10 student and one member of staff, we have a number of students required to self-isolate for 14 days.

"These are 63 Year 10 students, 43 Year 11 students and one Year 9 student. These students should remain at home, and not go out to socialise or for any other purpose during their period of self isolation.

"Families of all the students in the affected bubbles have been contacted directly by phone and email. If you've not been contacted and told to self isolate, your child should continue to attend school as long as they remain well. More information is available via the link below.

"We continue to work closely with Public Health England, and are doing all we can to protect our students and staff within school.

"We thank everyone in our school community for doing your bit to follow the rules and keep each other safe. We're in this together."
