Ofsted rate Trinity Sixth Form Academy in Halifax 'Outstanding'

The academy, which moved into what used to be Halifax Central Library in August 2020, has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the education watchdog.

Inspectors writing the report said: “Students thrive in the academy’s calm and harmonious environment.

“Their behaviour and attitudes are exemplary and in keeping with the academy’s high expectations and values.

“Students enjoy their lessons which are taught by skilled, enthusiastic and knowledgeable teachers. As a result, students make rapid progress in developing the knowledge skills and behaviours that they need to achieve and progress to their next steps.

“Students participate in an extensive range of activities and projects that develop their confidence and broaden their interests.”

Trinity Sixth Form Academy Principal Michael Fitzsimons said everyone at the academy is thrilled with Ofsted’s findings.

“As a sixth form community we are delighted and incredibly proud of achieving the Outstanding judgment by Ofsted, which can be credited to the exceptional hard work of all our dedicated team and of course our wonderful students,” he said.

The academy joined Trinity Multi-Academy Trust in 2016 with only29 students and as a college rated ‘Inadequate’ by Ofsted.

Now it has more than 700 students and offers the chance to study a broad range of A-level and BTEC subject qualifications.

An open event for prospective students is taking place tomorrow from 5pm for youngsters considering their next steps after GCSEs to take a look around, meet the teachers and current students, find out more about courses and hear from the principal.
