Primary school celebrates heroes of the community in annual scarecrow festival
Children at a local primary school celebrated the heroes of their community at their annual scarecrow festival.
Year 1 and 2 children at St Joseph’s Primary Academy — on Finkil Street in Brighouse — created four scarecrows for this year’s Hove Edge Scarecrow Trail.
The scarecrows — which celebrated police, firefighters, doctors and midwives — showcased some of the guests they have welcomed into class in recent weeks to tell them about their jobs, and were displayed during the event on Saturday, October 10.
St Joseph’s Headteacher Louise Paquim said: “The Hove Edge Scarecrow Festival is always a brilliant event, and we were proud to be part of it this year with our amazing scarecrows put together by our brilliant Y1 and Y2s.

“They worked incredibly hard on not just building and dressing one but four – all to celebrate some of those who care and look after us every day and who have given their time to come and talk to us in class over the past few weeks.
“Thank you to the Friends of St Chad’s for organising the event and to our Hove Edge community for supporting the Trail.”
