Amanda commented: “When we came up with the idea of Food4Heroes, we had no idea just many amazing people would give up their time and skills to support the effort.

“Without our brilliant network of volunteers, chefs and restaurants it would simply not have been possible to have delivered so many fresh and nutritious meals to so many frontline NHS and care workers. Just across Yorkshire we have delivered 45,000 meals.

“The response we received from the local community was absolutely incredible, and alongside the extremely generous public donations, we were able to exceed all of our expectations in terms of the support we were able to offer. The kindness and generosity of all of our volunteers has been truly overwhelming and we cannot thank them enough for all they’ve done to support the health and wellbeing of our NHS.

“The local catering companies, gastropubs and restaurants worked tirelessly to create delicious and fresh meals for those in need, and in doing so they were able to stay open and keep busy when many others in the sector were forced to shut. To name just a few of our brilliant chefs that served meals to Calderdale Royal Infirmary - Jon Nichols of Berties Banqueting Rooms, Simon Dyson of The Trading Rooms, Janet and Simon of Gimbals and Chris Brumby of The Navigation, Sowerby Bridge.

“Its examples like these which can make us truly proud of our local communities’ response.

“As the lockdown eases and pressure on the NHS subsides, Food4Heroes will be bringing to an end meal donations for NHS and care workers. We’ve now delivered 230,000 meals nationwide, which we are tremendously proud of.

“Building on this success, Food4Heroes is now engaging with catering partners and volunteers to explore new ways we can extend the initiative to others in need.

“Finally, I wanted to thank our key workers who have done a truly inspiring job on the frontline fighting COVID-19.

The Halifax Courier approached several groups and organisations ... we couldn’t possibly get to everybody, and some were unable at this time to participate, but don’t worry if you or your staff aren’t featured. We’re more than happy to devote more pages in the near future for more Big Thank You pictures. If you’d like to send in photos please email [email protected], including the names of those pictured and what they do, or have done, in the coronavirus effort.
