Brighouse and Rastick Band just miss out in national championships

Brighouse and Rastrick Band finished fourth in the national championships, at the Royal Albert Hall.

The band were looking to make history as the first band to win the competition after performing first.

They put on a fine performance but lost out to eventual winners The Cory Band, from Wales.

There was solo success with David Thornton named best instrumentalist for his stand-out euphonium playing.

And the band’s fourth place finish guaranteed them entry into the 2014 competition.
