In the latest incident, a 78-year-old woman had cash stolen from her Skircoat Green home sometime between October 11 and November 10.

During that period of time, the woman was having work done on trees at her address and detectives now fear conmen may have targeted other homes in the area.

Det Insp Allan Raw, of Calderdale District CID, said: "It may be that these men were legitimately working in the area and were not connected to the burglary but we need to identify them and speak to them at the earliest opportunity. If those men recognise themselves, I would ask them to contact us as soon as possible.

"We are also keen to speak to anyone who may have been approached by these men offering to do tree work or who has any information that could assist in identifying them.

"We'd also ask that people remain vigilant about anyone who approaches them at home offering to do work. People should only deal with businesses they can confirm are legitimate with a quote agreed before work starts."

Anyone with information should contact Det Con Eileen Walsh at Halifax Police Station by calling 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
