Calderdale Council’s Corporate Lead – Planning, Richard Seaman, said: “On Thursday 3 September the roof to the small former wool warehouse incorporated within the Paw Prints pet store on Commercial Street, Halifax collapsed. Thankfully there were no injuries.

“The emergency services were called and a member of the Council’s Building Control Team attended the scene. As a temporary precaution and to maintain public safety, part of Old Cock Yard was closed overnight whilst the loose stone work was removed.

“Enquiries are continuing regarding the cause of the collapse. Haven Building and Maintenance Limited has been commissioned to remove the loose and dangerous parts of the wall, prop the floors and remove parts of the fallen roof."
