Calderdale Rising smashes 150k target

Calderdale Rising, a fundraising campaign set up to help businesses affected by flooding, has smashed its 150k target.

And now that target has been hit, it’s hoped that £200,000 can be raised by Friday, when the fundraising page closes.

Kirsty McGregor, who is leading the campaign on behalf of Business for Calderdale, said the benefits of the campaign have been touching to see.

“From what I’m being told, the business owners have really felt supported by being part of this campaign, and it’s helped motivate them to get through all the tough

tasks to rebuild,” she said.

“Thankfully, many have re-opened and begun trading again during the past three weeks, but unfortunately for some it will still be a long time before they do so.

“I know several have definitely considered closing their doors and not reopening at all.

“But by bringing these businesses together, from all different sectors, they have told me that it has inspired them to continue, and even improve on the business they had before.

“As a group we have met several times in person, and shared many emails and messages during the week, and every little success for one business is celebrated by us all.”

Meanwhile, to mark Valentine’s Day the campaign has adopted a theme of ‘We Love You’.

A message of love and thanks will now be sent to all who have supported in the ongoing recovery of these businesses.

The newly added rewards offered in the crowdfunding campaign will make perfect Valentine’s gifts and those purchased will be guaranteed to be despatched on Friday afternoon, for delivery Saturday 13th.
