Calderdale venues to celebrate Independent Venue Week 2027
Five venues across Calderdale are expected to take part in the celebration.
Independent Venue Week (IVW) is an annual, week-long, celebration which recognises the “vital role” independently owned music and arts venues play in the industry and in local communities across the country.
It will take place from January 25 to 31, 2027.
The celebration brings together independent venues with artists, promoters, agents, record labels and media to create a “unique series of special live events” across the country.
Each year, IVW is championed by a different ambassador, and this year The K’s has been selected.
Venues taking part in Calderdale include The Golden Lion, The Trades Club, Puzzle Hall Inn, The Blind Pig, and The Grayston Unity.
IVW started in 2014 and since then has hosted nearly 5,000 shows and helped to sell more than 1 million tickets.
The IVW organisation considers a venue’s eligibility on a case-by-case basis, but says it is guided by the principle of “purpose over profit.”
