Casa Hotel and Restaurant loses planning battle

Bosses at the Casa Hotel and Restaurant in Brighouse are fearing a “catastrophic” impact on their business after Calderdale Council’s planning committee has refused permission for improvements to the premises.

The plans included a proposed extension to existing function facilities at the popular venue, as well as retrospective permission for work already carried out.

Worries regarding the encroachment of green belt land were raised, whilst those in support of the application spoke of the economic benefits of the venue to the local area.

Speaking after last night’s planning committee meeting, Sam Holmes, Group Manager of Casa Hotel and Restaurant, said: “The future of the whole business depends on this and it could have a catastrophic impact.

“We’re going to have to appeal if there’s any chance of making it work in the future.”
