Coun Tim Swift (Lab, Town) put forward a motion to full council calling on the CCG to wait until its Care Closer to Home scheme has ‘bedded in’ before pressing ahead with any changes to local hospital services.

Coun Swift called for the CCG and Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust to “engage without delay in constructive discussions about the future shape of health and social care across the borough.”

He has asked them to pledge their “commitment to the future of Calderdale Royal Hospital and the continuing provision of a range of key services within it.”

And has called on the council’s chief executive Merran McRae to write to the CCG to express the council’s views.

The motion was passed by full council.
