Clifton kicks off Queen's party

The Clifton Village Community Association organised a scarecrow festival as visitors followed the trail and judged the 21 stuffed models on display.

The day was rounded off with a cream tea at Clifton Methodist Church.

This was the beginning of a busy week for Clifton village as they prepare for a weekend full of activities.

Clifton and Lightcliffe Band will perform in Clifton park for proms in the park on Friday June 10 at 7.30pm. Tickets £5 (accompanied children U11 free)

Clifton Village Fete will see The Great Clifton Bake-Off.

Bakers are sked to deliver their entries to the marquee on Clifton Park no later than 11.30am for judging on Saturday June 11.

Entries will be judged by a local chef taking into account the appearance, odour, texture, flavour and creativity of the finished product.

The age groups include 12 years and under; 13 – 18 years, and 18 and over. The categories include a tray bake (including brownies) and savoury items, and Sweet Tart/Pie, Cupcake, Biscuits/Cookies Cake

At the fete there will be games, bar/beer tent and food stalls on Saturday June 11 from 1pm.

A Ceilidh Night will see the No Mean Feet Ceilidh Band perform at 7.30pm on the same day. Tickets £5 (accompanied Children U11 free)

On Sunday June 12 at 11am a Clifton street party and fancy dress competition will be held with a Community Church Service in the Marquee (11am), and picnic in the park (noon).
