Speaking after sentencing, Detective Superintendent Mark Ridley, Senior Investigating Officer, said: “This was a very sad case, but the important thing for Jade’s family is that they now have justice.

“Jade was much loved by her children, her family and her friends, and we hope that the conviction of James Gray will help to give them some comfort.”

Jade’s older sister Becki Watson, said: “All Jade ever wanted was to love and be loved.

“She was a loving mother to her children Jacob and Ella, and had many friends.

“While justice has now been done, no sentence will ever justify what a lovely person we’ve lost.

“We will never come to terms with losing Jade, and will always feel hurt at the way she was so cruelly and suddenly taken from us.

“We would like to thank our family and friends for their support during this difficult time, as well as those who have raised funds or made donations in Jade’s memory.

“We would also like to thank West Yorkshire Police for their comfort and reassurance, as well as their handling of the investigation.”
