Police are appealing for information after the incident which happened just before Christmas and also left the cat with damage to one of its back legs.

Milo, a 10-month-old long haired black cat who lives on Pollit Avenue, Sowerby Bridge, returned home on Tuesday, December 23, and was found to be badly injured.

He was taken to the vets but because of the extent of his injuries had to have his tail removed and his back leg is still recovering.

It is thought Milo may have been injured after getting caught in a trap.

PC Fiona Igo, the Wildlife Officer for Calderdale Police, said: “There are many cat owners in this area and I would appeal to anyone who has information about this incident or who has a pet that has suffered a similar injury to come forward.”
