Charity collection stolen from library
Staff at the library, on Crowtrees Lane, discovered the collection for the Friends of Rastrick Library had been taken on Saturday, August 9.
Calderdale Council’s Head of Neighbourhoods, Andrew Pitts, said: “We’re really disappointed that this theft happened in one of our libraries.

“The matter has been reported to the police, who are investigating the theft.”
Rastrick councillors have also spoken angrily about the incident after finding out about it at their surgery.
Coun Ann McAllister (Con) said: “I was horrified to learn that the donation box out on display had been stolen from its place at the front door. What mean minded person would do a thing like this?
“Our library is a valuable community asset and the staff give of their time generously to help organise the events. I hope the culprit reads this and is thoroughly ashamed of him or herself.”
