A child has died after being hit by a vehicle in Southowram this morning,

The incident happened on Trooper Lane in Southowram

The Air Ambulance was also called to the area and was seen landing on nearby fields.

A spokesperson for West Yorkhshire Police said: "Police officers were called at around 8.30am this morning (September 28) by the ambulance service to reports of a serious road traffic collision on Trooper Lane, Bank Top.

"The collision was involving one vehicle and a child. The child was taken to hospital but died as a result of their injuries.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
