Deliberate furniture fire in garden spreads to house in Lee Mount

Old furniture deliberately set on fire in a garden in Lee Mount spread to an adjoining house.

Fire crews were called to the incident at a property on East Park Road at 2.45am today (Thursday).

Two appliances from Illingworth and one from Halifax attended and used two hose reels, four breathing apparatus and extractor fans to deal with the fire.

Fortunately nobody was inside at the time.

Both fire and smoke damage were caused to the house.

The incident had been called in by a neighbour.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire Service said the furniture had been set on fire deliberately.

The crews left the scene at 3.45am.
