First success as police seek wanted European suspects

Czech national Julius Dzudza, 33, was named in the appeal after failing to surrender for extradition. He had previously been arrested on a European Arrest Warrant after being convicted and sentenced to 18 months in prison for driving whilst disqualified in his home country.

Dzudza was found in the Wakefield area by officers from the Wakefield Central Neighbourhood Policing Team. He has been arrested on the Bench Warrant and will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court at the next available sitting.

PC Glenn Binns from the European Arrest Warrant team, said: “Dzudza has been sought for some time now so I am delighted that this campaign has helped bring him to justice. I would also like to thank the Wakefield Central Neighbourhood Policing Team for their assistance in this matter.”

Officers are still searching for eight people wanted on European Arrest Warrants.

Officers are appealing for information as to the whereabouts of six Eastern European men and one Eastern European woman as well as one British man who has links to Pakistan.

They are wanted on Bench Warrants issued by the City of Westminster Magistrates Court following their arrests on European Arrest Warrants. It is thought that most of them are in the West Yorkshire area.

They are wanted in connection with a variety of allegations and convictions and are not thought to be linked in any way.

Speaking about the eight who are still outstanding, Superintendent Pat Casserly of West Yorkshire Police Protective Services - Operations, said: “We are doing everything in our power to bring these people before the justice system, investing a great deal of resources to protect the communities we serve from threat. We are proud that we have one of the highest arrest figures for European Arrest Warrants.

“Some of these people have already been found guilty or convicted of serious crimes in their native country - they have not come to West Yorkshire to reform or rehabilitate rather to hide from justice. I am appealing directly to anyone who knows where any of these people are to contact police.”

Posters have also been produced which have been translated into Hungarian, Czech, Polish and Urdu and displayed in communities across West Yorkshire.

Officers want to trace the following people (all male unless stated otherwise)

Andras Angyal, 45.

Officers want to speak to Mr Andras, who is from Hungary, after he failed to appear at the City of Westminster Magistrates Court on August 8 2014. He had been arrested on the European Arrest Warrant to face charges of theft and fraud in his latest country. He is known to have links to the Dewsbury and Heckmondwike

Patryk Dola, 25.

Dola is Polish and officers want to speak to him after he was convicted and sentenced to two years and ten months in prison for three assaults and two thefts of motor vehicles in his native country. He had been arrested on two European Arrest Warrants and he is thought to have links to the Leeds area. He failed to surrender for extradition.

Szabolcs Domotor 31

Domotor is wanted in his native Hungary and had been arrested on the European Arrest Warrant to face a charge of attempted theft of a motor vehicle. A Fail to Appear Bench Warrant was issued by City of Westminster Magistrates Court. He has links to the Dewsbury area. He failed to surrender for extradition.

Rafal Mieczyslaw Karczmar, 31

Karczmar, who is Polish, was sentenced to two years in prison in his home country for 40 burglary offences and three arsons. He was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant and has links to the Bradford area. He failed to surrender for extradition.

Mimi Mirga, 24

Mirga who is Polish is wanted in Poland after being sentenced to two years, three months and two days imprisonment for a knife point robbery. She was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant but failed to surrender extradition. She has links to the Harehills area of Leeds and to Ireland.

Wojciech Kamil Podolak, 31

Podolak was sentenced to two years in prison following a robbery in his native Poland. He was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant but failed to surrender for extradition. He has links to the Bradford area.

Jaroslaw Sobczak, 45

Sobczak, from Poland, is known to have links to the Huddersfield area and was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant after being sentenced to two years in prison for an armed robbery in his home country. He subject failed to surrender for extradition.

Asif Alam, 41

Mr Alam, who is a British national, was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant to face charges of tax evasion in Germany. He is known to have links to Pakistan as well as the Bradford area. He failed to surrender for extradition.
