Harrogate man arrested after beer garden attack

Detectives investigating an attack in a Harrogate pub which has left a man fighting for his life in hospital, have made an arrest.

A 44-year-old Harrogate man is currently being questioned in custody over the attack in the beer garden of Wetherspoons Royal Baths pub on Parliament Street Harrogate.

A 51-year-old Harrogate man was punched to the ground at around 7.30pm on Saturday and suffered serious head injuries. He remains in a critical condition at Harrogate District Hospital.

A second man, a 43-year-old man from the York area also needed hospital treatment after suffering facial injuries.

Following extensive police enquiries, the 44-year-old man from Harrogate was arrested in connection with the investigation this morning. He is currently being questioned in custody.
