Men appear in court over Hopwood Lane incident

Two men from Halifax have appeared at Calderdale Magistrates’ Court charged with a number of serious offences.

Akaash Ibrar, 26, and Shazad Ibrar, 19, were both allegedly involved in a public disorder incident on July 22 on Hopwood Lane. The men, both of Paddock Lane, Halifax, were charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Mr Akaash Ibrar was also charged with grievously bodily harm and racially aggravated affray on the same day for an alleged incident in Brunswick Gardens.

He was also charged with GBH for an incident in Sunderland Street on July 21.

The men entered no pleas as the case was sent to Bradford Crown Court on August 18 for a preliminary hearing.

Mr Akaash Ibrar pleaded not guilty for three other offences of possession of offensive weapon, failing to stop after and accident and no insurance on August 1.

The charges will also be dealt with at Bradford Crown Court.
