Pair deliberately drive off road motorbike into Halifax police officers to escape arrest
Two people were arrested after they drove a motorbike at police officers in Halifax town centre to avoid capture.
On April 24 at 2pm officers from Halifax Neighbourhood Policing Team were alerted to an off road motorcycle being driven around the town centre.
The bike, rider and pillion passenger were detained outside Subway on Old Market and in an attempt to prevent seizure of the bike drove it at the PCSO and PC in attendance.
The rider was arrested for assaulting an emergency worker, the pillion passenger for obstructing police.
The officers involved in the arrest were not injured.
A spokesperson for the NPT said: "A number of videos are circulating on social media of the incident and subsequent arrest which was witnessed by numerous people.
"We would like to clarify that this incident did NOT involve customers at any licensed premises in Halifax as has been assumed by many.
"Once again we thank those members of the public who intervened and assisted officers in safely arresting the offenders."
