Police appeal: Thieves’ £15k haul is crime against fashion

Thieves cut their way in to the back of a lorry parked in Elland and stole over £15,000 worth of stock.

But unfortunately for the crafty criminals the 23 boxes on board were full of ladies polyester puffer jackets.

Police have put out a witness appeal after the incident, which happened at 3.30am on Friday, August 8, when a Ivico HGV curtain-sided tailor was parked in the Aldi carpark on South Lane.

Three men used a sharp implement to cut through the tailor curtain and loaded the 23 boxes on board into a white old-style Ford Transit van. Each of he boxes contained 15 jackets with a total value of £15,525.

One of the men is believed to have an Eastern European accent.

Any witnesses, or anyone who is offered a ladies polyester puffer jacket, is asked to call PC Diane Nuttall at Halifax Police Station on 101, or CrimeStoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555111
