Police arrests suspects from the River Ryburn

A police superintendent has praised his officers after they plucked two suspects from the River Ryburn.

Officers were called to an address on Bar Lane, Ripponden, at 3.05am, on August 22, to reports that two men had attempted to break into a property containing vintage cars.

They were quickly on the scene and began to search for two men who had made off from the scene.

Two men aged 24 and 27 were then found in the river and arrested on suspicion of burglary.

They have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Superintendent Martin Lister of Calderdale Police, said: “Thanks to the dedicated actions of the officers we made the two arrests.

“We treat burglary very seriously and will always do our very best to bring offenders to justice.”
