Police out in force at Calderdale's speeding hotspots
Officers have been taking to Calderdale’s roads in a push to tackle dangerous drivers.
As part of the national Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action 2026, Calderdale’s neighbourhood policing teams carried out a series of targeted operations on roads identified as speeding hotspots and locations where road safety concerns had been raised.
They were looking for drivers exceeding the speed limit and people failing to wear seat belts.
West Yorkshire Police says the action forms part of ongoing efforts to reduce the number of crashes and improve safety on Calderdale’s roads.

It adds speeding, mobile phone use and failing to wear a seat belt remain some of the most common factors that contribute to serious and fatal accidents.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Dangerous and distracted driving can have devastating consequences, affecting not only those behind the wheel but also passengers, pedestrians and other road users.
"By combining proactive enforcement with community engagement, officers aim to educate motorists, deter unsafe driving behaviour and help create safer roads for everyone.
"Neighbourhood Policing Teams will continue to carry out road safety operations throughout the year, responding to concerns raised by residents and working to make Calderdale’s communities safer places to live, work and travel.”
