Rastrick man appears in court accused of killing his mum

A Rastrick man charged with the murder of his 79-year-old mother has appeared in court.

Nigel Constable, 51, of Sherburn Road, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address at a short Lincoln Magistrates’ Court hearing this morning.

Betty Constable of Merleswen, Dunholme, was taken to Lincoln County Hospital on Sunday at around 11am. But she died in hospital at around 10am on Tuesday.

Mr Constable was then arrested on Wednesday night and charged with his mother’s murder, before appearing in court today.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday, September 30.
