Search dog Pepper rescues missing vulnerable patient

Search dog Pepper, a member of the Calder Valley Search and Rescue team, saved the life of patient who went missing from hospital.

The CVSRT was called out on Sunday ay 20.50pm to assist West Yorkshire Police with the ongoing search for a vulnerable woman who had been reported missing from Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Earlier in the evening the police helicopter (NPAS Carr Gate) had searched and cleared all open areas.

Team members with Search dog ‘Pepper’ were available to respond immediately and once on-scene were tasked with clearing a large area of dense undergrowth in the Manor Heath Park area of Halifax.

At 10.05pm, ‘Pepper’ with handler Ellie located the missing female alive, but in need of medical assistance.

Team doctors were quickly in attendance and the casualty was then transferred to hospital for further care.
