Shelf residents warned over theft from vehicles

Police have warned motorists in Shelf to be on alert after a rise in thefts from unlocked vehicles.

Ward officers have said they are investigating four incidents and in all cases the owners had forgotten to lock their vehicles.

PC Andy Bingham, ward officer for Northowram and Shelf said: “In the last two weeks there have been four theft from motor vehicle offences in the Shelf area of Halifax.

“Unfortunately on every occasion the offenders stole items from cars which had being left unlocked.

“Officers are working hard to reduce vehicle crime in the Bradford Border’s area but we need the assistance of the public to stop making it easy for them.

“Please can residents ensure they lock their vehicles up and double check because it could be the difference between four victims of crime and no victims of crime.”
