UPDATED: Police appeal: Man attacked before having his van stolen

A man was pushed to the ground before having his van stolen this morning (Monday).

Police are appealing for witnesses after the robbery which took place at Shelf Moor, Shelf, at 6.40am.

The victim was clearing ice from his windscreen and in the process of loading his van for work just before the attack, He was suddenly aware of somebody behind him and was then pushed over.

The suspect then jumped into the vehicle and drove off down Shelf Moor Road. Police believe the vehicle was heading towards Bradford.

The vehicle is a maroon Ford Transit, registration M111 CYC.

The suspect is described as male, wearing dark clothing and a dark hat with flaps overt the ears.

The victim suffered a slight injury to his thumb.

The owner is offering a £500 reward if the vehicle is returned in the same condition.
