The four men were seen to run off along Ashton Road after the incident.

Officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.

PC Philip Dodsworth, of Leeds District CID, said: “The photo of the victim is particularly graphic and shows the nasty facial injuries she received in this incident.

“We hope the impact of this image will encourage anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. We are particularly keen to speak to one potential witness - the driver of a gold or silver Mark IV Volkswagen Golf which was seen on CCTV in Ashton Road approaching the junction with Milan Road just before the incident.

“The victim, who was wearing a bright red coat, crosses the junction in front of that car shortly before being robbed and the person in the vehicle may have seen who else was around at the time.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist the investigation to contact me.”

Anyone with information if asked to contact PC 4319 Dodsworth at Stainbeck Police Station via 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Four youths, aged 14, 15, 16 and 17, from Manchester, have been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.
