Witness appeal following Huddersfield robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed of cash while walking along a footpath in the Edgerton area of Huddersfield on Wednesday, September 3.

Between 9.10pm and 9.40pm, the 60-year-old victim was walking by St John’s Church, along a footpath between Cemetery Road and Highfields Road, when he was approached by a young male, who claimed to be armed with a hammer and demanded cash.

After the victim handed over the cash, the male ran off in the direction of the church.

The suspect is described as around 17-years-old, 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build. He was wearing a light blue hoody with the hood up with white drawstrings and small, white lettering on the left breast. He is described as speaking with a local accent.

Detective Constable Andy Clayton, of Kirklees CID, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone in the vicinity of Cemetery Road or Highfields Road around the time of this offence who has seen a young man matching the suspect’s description.
