Woman broke shoulder avoiding speeding car

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman broke her shoulder trying to avoid a speeding car in Halifax.

The incident happened at the junction of Commercial Street and Georges Square between 9.30pm and 9.45pm on Saturday, February, 22. A car drove along Commercial Street onto Georges Square at speed and while using its horn.

A 51 female, who was in the road, ran out of the way and tripped as a result, suffering a broken shoulder.

PC James Sandford, of the Western Area Roads Policing Team, said: “We continue to investigate this incident and would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened or has information about the vehicle involved.

“Although it did not strike the victim, she did suffer a serious injury as a result of moving out of the car’s path.”
