Chairman of the Huddersfield Oddfellows, Elizabeth Bowers, 74, was hit by a car while on her way to a meeting in Huddersfield in November last year.

The Cleckheaton woman’s charity for her year of office was the Meningitis Research Foundation and collections and fund raising events have continued since then in her memory.

During their meeting at their Brighouse Oddfellows Hall base, a cheque for £5,000 was presented to Christine Ethridge the regional ambassador for the foundation by Beth’s husband Trevor.

The money raised has come mostly from the collection at Beth’s funeral and many Oddfellow events, however they did receive £660 from Cleckheaton community choir who held a concert in April in memory of Beth, who was a member.
