Calderdale residents may hear an emergency siren sound this week – but there’s no need to be alarmed.

Solenis on Cleckheaton Road at Low Moor will carry out a test-sounding of its off-site emergency siren at 10am and 8pm on Thursday (December 4).

The siren, which produces a sound of increasing and decreasing pitch, will operate for one minute on each occasion.

Solenis shared: “There is no need for members of the public, who hear the siren, to take any action.

“The Emergency Services have been informed of the test sounding of the siren.

"Residents living within the Public Information Zone around the Solenis site at Low Moor received a leaflet giving details of this test early in 2025.

"However, if neighbours are new to the area or have lost the leaflet and would like a copy please contact Solenis.”

The test sounding is being carried out as part of the company’s obligations under the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 2015 (COMAH Regulations).
