Pools are taking shape at new North Bridge Leisure Centre site
The new North Bridge leisure centre in Halifax is taking shape.
Anyone who has passed the site recently may have noticed that the new pools are taking shape.
Work that took place over the summer include piling, excavation and concrete works for the pump pits, lift shaft pits, and balance tanks.
Specialist pool contractors have been brought in to install under-slab pipework for the pool filtration and pump systems.
Some challenges that the team have encountered include a well, piles, and buried structures during excavations that weren’t picked up by surveys.
Calderdale Next Chapter has shared what work will be taking place at the site over the next few months: “This autumn we will begin to see the shape of the new structure as steels are installed to form the frame of the new building.
“The refurbishment of the sports hall from the old North Bridge Leisure Centre will start this year too.
“The refurbished sports hall will be worked into the new leisure facility.”
