Dave Standish, project manager at Yorkshire Water, said: “As part of Yorkshire Water’s £8.3bn investment into Yorkshire over the next five years, we are delivering a significant upgrade to our clean water network, which we are kicking off with 238km of mains being replaced in Yorkshire before April 2026.

"In Calderdale, we will be replacing over 4.3km of mains in the first year of the investment period, with a further 6.1km planned for the second year."

Contract partner, Sapphire Utility Services, is underway with the project, which is expected to complete in November this year.

Work began recently at the junction with Stainland Road and Shaw Lane and will be moving down Shaw Lane and onto private land over the course of the scheme.

There will be temporary traffic lights around the working area for the safety of colleagues, residents, and road users.

The current works on Stainland Road is predicted to take place until July 27 and on Shaw Lane until August 10.

Dave added: “We’ll be working quickly and doing everything that we can to keep disruption to a minimum whilst we deliver this important work.”
