Event raises cash for nursery

Generous fundraisers helped raise thousands of pounds for a nursery at a charity dinner.

Almost 100 people took part in the event at Clifton Village Nursery, which is run as a charity by volunteers.

A total of £2,100 was raised during the dinner.

Nursery manager Michelle Tankard said: “With around 100 guests attending including parents, staff and local villagers there was a real community feel to it.

“This wonderful and memorable evening was a huge success, due to the hard work of the staff and parents involved in the organisation of the event.

Mrs Tankard said she will use the cash to buy new IT equipment to improve the children’s learning experience.

The nursery is also celebrating its 40-year milestone this year since it first opened.

To mark the anniversary staff are organising an open day for parents.

The event will give people a chance to tour the building and speak to staff.

During the open day, activities including games, stalls, sideshows and a balloon release will take place.

Elsa, from Disney’s Frozen, will also make an appearance at the event to meet children.
