Familiar face steps back into president role

A familiar face will be taking over the reigns at the Rotary Club of Brighouse as the new president set out his plans for the year.

Chris Redfearn, who takes over the presidency of the club from Tony Perryman, was president previously 13 years ago.

“We are a friendly club who meet to enjoy fun and fellowship alongside our many charitable activities,” said Mr Redfearn.

One of his objectives for the year is to work more closely with local businesses. Rotary is the largest service organisation in the world with the motto ‘service above self’. Under a new corporate membership scheme, those whose sense of responsibility inspires them to give back to their communities, can do so without becoming full members.

The Brighouse club, one of 120 in Yorkshire and Humberside has a full range of activities throughout the year.

Mr Redfearn retired from business running a large Brighouse manufacturing company ten years ago but remains Chairman of a St Helens–based technology business and does occasional industrial consultancy projects.

He is married to Jenny who is also a past President of the club and they have three married sons and one grand daughter. He enjoys woodturning and carpentry and is a keen sea kayaker and windsurfer. Mr Redfearn remains a Governor of Hipperholme Grammar having been Chairman for 10 years until 2015.
