Fun day to be had in Mytholmroyd

Mytholmroyd Gala returns tomorrow and promises to be a fun day out for all the family.

The procession sets off at noon from Orchard Park Industrial Estate and goes through the village until it reaches Burnley Road Primary School.

At 12:30pm the Gala will be officially opened by Pam Saville, a retired Burnley Road School headteacher and has helped out with the Gala for many years.

This year’s Gala queen, Natasha Burnside, will be travelling through the procession on an old 1940’s Mytholmroyd Moderna truck and will be crowned at 1pm.

Entry this year will be free thanks to Hebden Royd Town Council who have given some funding towards the event and the fair is starting on the Friday night for extra fun.

There will be a variety of performances, including local magician Si Hammah, rockabilly band Mad Jack and the Hatters and Gala Vice Chairman Rick Wild, from the band the Overlanders, will be singing.

George Sumner, Gala Chairman, said: “It’s nice to support local people at these kinds of events.”

“A big thanks to Robinwood for providing the wagon that will act as the stage on Saturday.”

Children are being encouraged to wear their best fancy dress for the chance to win a £10 prize.

Face painting and even head massages will be on offer on the stalls as well as the chance to win a Mini Cooper.
