The large cast of actors and musicians had been rehearsing hard for months for the week long run of Roald Dahl’s classic tale of Charlie who wins a golden ticket to visit a chocolate factory owned by the mysterious Willy Wonka.

The fast-moving tale shared the story of the flamboyant factory owner and the winners of the golden tickets who apart from Charlie have a series of misadventures in Willy Wonka’s fantastical factory that was recreated in the school’s performance area.

The cast and the school band who played the show’s big musical numbers were drawn from right across the school community from year seven upwards.

Todmorden High School Head Gill Shirt: “Our annual show is one of the highlights of the school year and I was moved by the hard work the students has put in in their spare time as well as the talent onstage.

“Working with teachers Miss Brockman and Miss Kingsley the students took on a demanding musical with a huge amount of skill and the massive applause after the last song shows just how proud their parents and families were.

“I think everyone enjoyed the performance of our year seven Oompa Loompas who were just brilliant.”
