Good samaritan breaks arm trying to stop Halifax bar brawl

A 34-year-old man who tried to break up a Halifax bar brawl has been left with a broken arm.

Halifax CID would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident which took place at about 9.15pm on Saturday August 29.

It occurred after the victim, a 34-year-old man, saw a fight ongoing involving five or six middle aged men outside the Yates bar on Silver Street.

He tried to intervene to stop a man on the ground from being assaulted and was instead punched and fell to the floor, breaking his left arm.

The victim needed hospital treatment for the injury.

DC Craig Aubrey of Halifax CID, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this offence in which the victim has suffered a serious injury while trying to intervene and stop an assault.

“The incident has left him with lasting damage to his arm and I would ask anyone who saw the fight or has information which could help identify those responsible to contact Halifax CID on 101.

“Information can also be given anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
