Our first day was spent in our partner school where we helped out in some English lessons followed by a chance to explore the town and a disco in the evening.

It was fantastic to catch up with everyone after the weekend and find out what everybody had got up to!

On Monday we spent the day in the historic city of Bruges before visiting Ypres in the afternoon where we bought a poppy wreath from Calder High to put on the World War 1 memorial. We had chance to do a bit of shopping in Lille on Tuesday, and visited the war memorial at Notre Dame de Lorette on Wednesday. We all found this a fascinating and somewhat emotional experience. Thursday morning was another early start, and we stopped off at Nausicaa sea life centre.

The students were fantastic all week. They really made an effort to improve their French and were excellent ambassadors for the sFchool. We’re looking forward to next year!
