Harrogate motorcyclist dies in Sutton Bank crash

The motorcyclist who died in a crash near Sutton Bank has been identified as a Harrogate man.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a serious collision between two motorists on the A170 at Scawton at around 10am today (Thursday July 30).

The man was driving a Triumph motorbike and was travelling with two other motorcyclists when he collided with a white Sirocco van.

North Yorkshire Police said: “The motorcyclist, a man in his 60s from the Harrogate area, suffered serious injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The road was closed whilst police attended the incident and an investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.

Police are now appealing for witnesses of the incident or anyone with information to contact them on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Traffic Constable Martin Hayes.
