Hebden Bridge Round Table staging free day out for over-80s

Hebden Bridge Round Table is once again hosting a special day out for local residents aged 80 and over.

Last year the group successfully organised a free afternoon meal and trip out to The Millstones, with around 45 people boarding the coach, and headed off towards Harrogate for lunch, bingo, entertainment and even some dancing.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 12, with the coach leaving Hebden Bridge town centre at 9.30am.

Places are available to those aged 80 or over, living in Hebden Bridge and the local surrounding area. Places need to be pre-booked and transport will be provided to and from the coach pick up point.

Will Hodgins, Chairman of Hebden Bridge Round Table, said: “Three years ago we ring-fenced funding for our over 80’s event.

“We know that our guests really enjoy the day out and it is important that it keeps happening.

“It is always a good day out and it is really nice to for us to see people making new friendships as well as rekindling old acquaintances.

“But, as a charity we need to raise new funds to continue work like this, and to do that we need members, so if any of our over-80s guests or their families have local sons or grandsons aged 18 to 45 who want to get involved, have fun and do more with their spare time, then we would love to hear from them.”
