Huge queues on major routes into Halifax

Major routes into Halifax are snarled up with long traffic queues this morning following a crash at the busy Hipperholme crossroads and a broken down truck on the Elland bypass.

Rush hour traffic is at a standstill after an accident, which left a car on its roof, near the busy Hipperholme crossroads.

The incident is causing massive disruption on the A58 between Leeds and Halifax.

Police are diverting traffic away from the scene of the crash which is around the junction of Thompson Close and Leeds Road.

Ambulance crews are also at the scene.

Rush hour traffic was at a standstill on the busy A629 Calderdale Way between Ainley Top and Elland after a concrete mixer got broke down.

Queues were stretching as far back as the Ainley Top roundabout on the bypass as police and recovery crews dealt with the truck.

The road was reopened just before 8am but there may be delays in the area.
