Hundreds support Overgate Hospice at Lanterns on the Lake
The campaign invited people to dedicate a lantern in memory of a loved one or in celebration of the care that Overgate Hospice provides.
Attendees were invited to write a message onto a label and add it to their own individual lantern, before passing it on to the nursing staff who volunteered their time on the night to fill the rafts.

The dedicated lanterns were taken across the lake by row boat from 9:15pm, and were carefully places across the lake after passing hundreds of supporters lining the banks.
Claire Howard, Community Fundraiser, said: ‘Lanterns on the Lake is now in its second year and we are humbled to receive the continued support of so many members of the community. We would like to thank all who made a dedication, and extend particular thanks to our volunteers, the staff at Shibden Park, and our event sponsor Town Hall Dental in Brighouse. Without your support this beautiful event could not have taken place.’
It is estimated that the event raised over £10,000, which will go a long way to support the future care of those suffering from life-limiting illnesses in Calderdale.
