Light up a life for hospice this Christmas

A special Christmas community event offers people from across the Harrogate district the opportunity to remember and pay tribute to loved ones this December, while supporting local families living with terminal illness and bereavement.

Saint Michael’s Light up a Life campaign gives local people the chance to dedicate a light on the charity’s Christmas tree in memory of someone in their thoughts this Christmas.

Chief Executive of Saint Michael’s, Tony Collins, said: “The special memories we have of loved ones never leave us, and Light up a Life is a meaningful way to celebrate and remember the lives of family and friends who are no longer with us.

“When making your dedication you will receive a special memory star, as well as extra stars for children and young people to decorate and hang on the tree at home, or on our beautifully lit Saint Michael’s tree.”

The lights will be illuminated during two community events at Ripon Cathedral on Sunday December 6 and Saint Michael’s Hospice on Hornbeam Park Avenue on Sunday December 13.

All Light up a Life donations will help Saint Michael’s provide more care for local families this Christmas, at the charity’s base and in people’s homes, care homes and hospital.

Saint Michael’s relies on the local community for support and fundraising to provide care to more than 2,000 people across the Harrogate district each year.
