Liz was joined by over 100 friends, family, local writers, librarians and young readers at Hebden Bridge Town Hall.

As well as a reading from the author and Eden Summer-themed cakes, guests were treated to an Eden Summer playlist created by Helen Richardson-Foster, as shared on Lauren Laverne’s 6Music show; and a slideshow of beautiful local landscape photography by Lee Richardson-Foster showcasing the scenery in the book. The Bookcase bookshop of Hebden Bridge were overwhelmed with demand for the book on the night, with extremely strong sales.

Publisher David Fickling said: “Liz is a special and rare new voice, she captures the very essence of what it is to be a teenager.

“The heartache, the trauma, the lies and the love between friends.”

Eden Summer follows teenager Jess as she retraces the events of the summer in an attempt to find her missing best friend, Eden, and is set in the countryside of Hebden Bridge.

Liz grew up in Hebden Bridge and returned there 10 years ago to raise her daughters. Until recently, she ran the local Lumb Bank, the Ted Hughes Arvon centre, supporting its famous writing courses. She has also worked as a commissioning editor in the children’s book trade.
