Man assaulted during Huddersfield street robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses following a street robbery in which a 28-year-old local man was assaulted in Huddersfield.

Detective Constable Andy Clayton, from Huddersfield CID, said: “The incident occurred on Sunday June 1 at 10.50pm as the victim was walking near to the junction of Spaines Road and Woodbine Road in the Fartown area.

“The victim heard footsteps approaching him from behind before he was pushed and then repeatedly punched to the head and upper body while demands were made for a bag the victim was carrying over his shoulder.

“After pushing the victim to the floor the bag was snatched and the suspect(s) are believed to have fled the area in a nearby vehicle which may have been a Ford Ka.

“Fortunately the victim was not seriously injured in the incident but he has been left understandably shocked by what took place and it’s important we catch those responsible.”
