Met office issues warning for rain

The yellow “be aware” warning for Yorkshire and the Humber is valid until 23.55pm this evening (Sunday).A Met Office spokeperson, said: “Further heavy, thundery showers are likely to develop in some eastern parts of the UK today. Although many places within the warning area will stay dry, where storms do occur, torrential downpours are possible with lightning, hail and perhaps locally strong wind gusts. The most likely areas for local disruption are across parts of eastern and southeastern England.”“The public should be aware of the risk of surface water flooding or localised flooding from fast-responding urban watercourses.”Despite the warning, the flood alert previously issued for the River Calder is no longer in place.
